＊Misunderstanding about Cosplay

In some ACG activities, the same costume culture, such as Lolita fashion and Punk fashion will also join it. Sometimes, it will confuse the people who do not know Cosplay or the two fashions. Generally speaking, they will misunderstand that the latter two fashions are included in Cosplay. As a result, Lolita is often asked that “are you cosplay any character?” It always makes Lolita embarrassed.

The three cultures have a common point that is their clothes or costumes are all exaggerative, distinctive and unique. It is easy to attract people. However, cosplayers imitate the characters so their costumes represent the character that they imitate, not themselves. Also, you will not see cosplayers who wear their costumes on the street.

For the people who wear clothes of Lolita or Punk fashion, the clothes are what they really wear in their daily lives. They wear their clothes to buy something or meet with their friends. The clothes are not costumes. They are part of their accessories so clothing can show others their fashion.

Next time, do not misunderstand these three subculture on the street and ask embarrassing questions.
