【3. Gerne: Comics and Animation, Games, Others】

The characters of Cosplay are various and different. Generally speaking, they are usually sourced from comis, animation, video games, novels, singers, movies, history characters... etc. Cosplay participants ( or called "cosplayers") wear their similar or even the same costunes as characters' with combination of properties, expression and likely behavior to imitate the characters they choose.

In our opinions, we roughly divide the source of Cosplay into two groups:
‧ACG
‧Others

ACG
Animation, Comic, Game were abbreviated to "ACG". Cosplay in Japan originally developed from ACG so ACG Cosplayers are still take a great part of Cosplay today.
Moreover, the three entertainment industries are related and intimate. As a result, one work may simultaneously appear in three types of forms: animation, comic and game.

Cosplay in ACG for example:
Animation: Final Fantasy, コードギアス反逆のルルーシュ
Comic: 黑執事, NARUTO -ナルト-
Game: 咎狗の血

Recently, "ACG" has gradually become "ACGN" because of (Light) Novel's prevalence, such as 涼宮ハルヒシリーズ, 灼眼のシャナ.


Others
Besides ACG Cosplay, other cosplays can be all classified into this group because there are so many characters can be cosplayed. Cosplay is a wide world. As long as you are interested in the character, you can cosplay it.

The common Cosplay for example:
‧Singers, especially Visual kei
‧Movies
‧Puppet show
‧... ... ect.
